About the artist:

“You don’t hire me. You just turn me loose!”

I have a a single-minded goal with my work: to bring back the lost excitement and visual power of illustrated poster design. Rock posters, movie posters….any poster with the specific intent of attracting public attention. Being polite has nothing to do with the job.

For over 20 years I’ve created iconic rock posters, album covers and merchandise designs for some of the biggest names in the music industry as well as underground, independent bands. Clients including record labels, music venues, merchandise and apparel companies around the world have commissioned my eye-assaulting creations. I’ve also worked with Pulitzer Prize winning author, Michael Chabon, creating illustrations for his 2012 novel, Telegraph Avenue.

My world world is a trashy, combustible cocktail of pop art, pinup hyperrealism, 70s sexploitation, modern vintage and a big dose of rock ‘n’ roll swagger. My work is informed by my experiences during years of touring the world in my own band and also a steady diet of movies and all manner of pop culture trash. A completely self-taught, lifelong artist and illustrator, I seamlessly combine traditional and digital techniques creating images that cut through the modern digital haze and demand attention. I’ve sold thousands of art books, limited edition silkscreen and giclee prints that are coveted by fans and collectors worldwide. I’ve traveled the entire US several times over appearing at exhibits, conventions and book signings.

In 2008 Dark Horse released the first book of my collected works, Vicious Intent: The Rock ‘n’ Roll Art and Exploitation of Stainboy Reinel.
